Sinequa CS revolutionises content management at French Newspaper Le Télégramme

Paris, October 30 2008 – Le Télégramme, the regional daily newspaper of Brittany, has implemented Sinequa CS in a project that has revolutionised how journalists retrieve information for news articles.
The press industry is in a state of flux as both tightening economic conditions and the digital revolution force media outlets to drastically reconsider how they manage their knowledge inside the organisation. Le Télégramme recognises that news production is no longer a one-way stream of content, and chose Sinequa CS in order to stay ahead of the pack in both technology and meet their strategic objectives.
Le Télégramme is among the top ten French regional dailies. It employs 720 people including 200 journalists and sells more than 200,000 newspapers per day. Sinequa CS allows staff instant and searchable access to all content from inside previous editions, in order to enrich future articles, keeping the readership up to date on developing stories, providing pinpoint accuracy. This means staff can find information quickly to immediately respond to events.
With Sinequa CS, the librarians that sort this content can improve the quality of the archives by enriching the existing data. This is done via ‘tagging’ in a marking interface adopted for this project, which again improves the flow of information. The facility to automatically tag articles against a myriad of criteria makes their categorisation even more precise and fine. This “enriched marking” brings both intelligence and relevance to all processes.
Journalists will benefit from refined navigation features, ease of use and faster responses in their research. Sinequa’s advanced linguistic analysis allows people and places to be detected automatically. So not only can a researcher find related stories, but also contact those who wrote them. The improved application response time, the ability to browse and search across all information sources (in all formats) and the possibility to save queries, were all factors in encouraging journalists to adopt this new tool.
