Pressbox (Press Release) -
Ants Media Group have launched a WEBTV portal to promote yachting in Thailand with an initial focus on Phuket and the Andaman region.
The idea came about following a news story the company produced about the booming superyacht scene in Phuket late last year.
"After our story aired on the BBC travel show Fast Track, we were approached by people that ran websites in the marine and tourism industries that wanted copies" says Justin Weily, head of Ants Media Groups IPTV division.
"We gave most of them the embed code to our Ooyala player and then thought, why not make more of these videos and offer them to all the blogs and social media sites out there."
The uptake for the initial story was extremely positive with the video appearing on yachting websites, iTUNES podcasts, the BBC iPlayer, Current TV and National Geographics Adventure TV portal to name a few.
"With the enormous distribution available using the internet these days, we (and many others) find ourselves in a great position to offer top quality videos with a voice over. We think it's a better marketing tool to 'tell a story' as opposed to just offering up 'pictures and nice music' like most of the content out there. We're able to do this because we use video journalists."
