Are the Jews to blame, are the Romans to blame, are the Christians to blame or are we all to blame? These are only some of the questions generated by Mel Gibson movie, “The Passion of the Christ.” Why is everyone so confused? What is the real
answer? Tom Bosse, author of The Unveiling of the Trinity, gives his viewpoint.
Erlanger,KY--February 27, 2004—As author of “The Unveiling of the Trinity” with over 2½ years researching the subject relating to the nature of Jesus, please allow me to offer some insight into what I have found. To understand the Trinity, you must understand Jesus. It is no secret that the Trinity identifies to the label of mystery. Why is it a mystery? Because there has never been an individual like Jesus on this earth. With that said, let us find out who really killed Jesus.
To answer our question, we must first look at the fall of man in the “Garden of Eden.” God made Adam from the dust of the ground and in God’s own image. He was a perfect and sinless being. Then God gave man dominion over the earth. However, the book of Genesis relates that Adam sinned by partaking of the forbidden fruit. The fallout from Adam’s sin alienated man from God because Adam disobeyed God and obeyed the wishes of Satan.
Sin not only separated man from God, but also man relinquished his dominion authority over the earth and transferred it to Satan thereby making Satan ruler over the earth. One noteworthy Scripture confirming Satan’s dominion discloses that after Jesus was praying and fasting for 40 days in the wilderness, Satan came to Jesus and offered Him all the kingdoms of the world if Jesus would bow down to him. Jesus rebuked Satan with the Word of God, but He never denied that the kingdoms belong to Satan.
Next, let us look at an example of what happened when man was separated from God. We know our homes receive power from the Power Co. The power goes through wires to switches to lights. With power at the top of the switch and the switch in the on position the light illuminates. When God breathed into Adam the breath of life, it made Adam what the Bible calls a living soul. However, God also put His own Spirit in Adam at that same time. God’s Spirit is the power because it contains life. It enlivened man’s soul and spirit.
God’s Spirit united with man’s spirit and generated life in man’s soul. It is much like the power in our homes. Visualize a wire from Adam’s head to his heart or spirit with a switch in the middle. The switch was on when God made Adam. The switch went to the off position when Adam sinned. That meant God’s Spirit left Adam’s spirit. The Spirit of God remained in the head part of Adam but could not reach the heart because of sin. Therefore, the living soul is now dead without the generating life of the Spirit. The sad part is, the switch in Adam can never return to the on position. The Bible tells us that the soul that sinneth, it shall die and the wages of sin is death.
When we follow our genealogy back, we will eventually end at Adam. Similar to a string of Christmas tree lights wired in series, if the first light or any light goes out, they all go out. We are all sinners, it is our nature. We tend to blame Adam, but it wouldn’t matter if it were Adam or anyone else. We would all eventually sin. What it boils down to is that the first light on the string sinned, and therefore we are all condemned.
What can we do—we have a death sentence hanging over our heads. One thing to keep in mind—if Adam had children before the fall, they too would have been perfect beings; that is, until they sinned. However, Adam did not have children until after the fall. That means there were no perfect beings left on earth or anywhere else. Angels are not perfect beings because Satan used to be one and he deceived one third of the angels in heaven. Beasts are not perfect and they are not human beings. No perfect beings were available for mankind.
Only a perfect man could rescue sinful man from his predicament and no perfect beings were available anywhere except one—and that was God Himself. Still, God could not come to earth and redeem man. The Bible says that God is a Spirit and He told Moses on the mountain—no man can look upon Me and live. If God came to earth, everyone that looked at Him would die.
For man, there was no answer. Nevertheless, God had a plan. He knew what to do because the Bible reports, "with God all things are possible." God came to earth as a perfect Human Being named Jesus, born of a woman conceived by God’s own Spirit. His purpose for coming to earth is further portrayed in the Scriptures and in Mel Gibson’s movie.
Now let us get back to our question; Who is guilty? The Jews, yes — the Romans, yes — the Christians, yes; we are all guilty. No one could kill Jesus unless He elected it to happen. Jesus, a perfect Man, was incapable of dying without sin. He could not die unless He took our sins upon Him.
What does it all mean? For one thing and contrary to what people say, we are not all children of God. Jesus told the most religious people in His day that they are of their father the devil. If the most religious people are children of the devil, where do we stand? You might ask, “What credibility does Jesus have?” By understanding exactly who Jesus is, as depicted in “The Unveiling of the Trinity,” His authority becomes very real.
Should Christians fault Jews because they reject Jesus as their Messiah? Certainly not. If Christianity and its leaders do not understand the full details of the Trinity, they should not criticize Jews because they only saw the Second Coming of their Messiah. They did not understand that their Messiah had to come twice. Once to redeem humanity from their sins and a second time as King of Kings and Lord of Lords. It is important to keep in mind that because Jesus redeemed humanity from its sins does not automatically mean we are free from sin. We are still children of Satan until we choose to become children of God and that only happens through the One who redeemed us. That is truly what this movie, “The Passion of the Christ” is all about.
Obviously, “The Unveiling of the Trinity” supplies much more details than found in this article. The book clarifies the structure of God and reveals the element of Jesus. God did not simply make Jesus out of nothing. The Bible states that God made man from an element called dust; likewise, God also made Jesus from a particular element. Identifying this element is the golden key to removing the 1700-year-old mystery of the Trinity. The book is available online and through most bookstores.
