UK Nominations for PRIX EUROPA 2005

24 productions from the United Kingdom will compete for an award at this year’s European media festival which will take place from 15 to 22 October in Berlin and Potsdam.

256 television-, radio and Internet productions from 35 countries have so far been nominated to compete for fourteen awards in ten categories. All in all, more than 650 productions were entered.

“A subject that features highly in this year’s selection is Islam“, remarks festival manager Susanne Hoffmann. “The programmes focus, however, on personal encounters with Muslims and their everyday lives rather than offering political analysis.“

Prix Europa's main concern is to promote the trademark "Made in Europe" and to be a forum for quality programmes and young talent. It attracts about 1000 media professionals each year and has become the most important festival of its kind since its founding in 1987 by the European Cultural Foundation and the Council of Europe.
