Sense Radio launches 8th January 2008
Added: (Sun Jan 06 2008)
Sense Radio, the new name for Sixhits Digital Radio, launches on Tuesday evening (8th January), broadcasting an eclectic mix of easy listening music from the 70s, 80s, 90s and today during the daytime, and a more modern variety of music in the evenings, catering to the varied tastes of its listeners throughout the day.
Test transmissions commenced in late 2007, with a full programming schedule to begin at 17:30 GMT with various presenters introducing themselves and explaining more about what Sense Radio will offer in the future. The launch programmes will air until midnight, when the standard schedule for the station will be implemented.
Just prior to the launch of on air programming, a new, ultra-modern and interactive website will launch, adding a new dimension to how listeners get information, not just from the audio output of Sense Radio, but also from the talent and skill of the many budding journalists who will be continually updating articles and content 24 hours a day.
Like Sixhits Digital Radio, Sense Radio will pride itself on providing high quality, live programming, including live sports, and specialist shows, showcasing new talents and minority genres.
The primary aim of Sense Radio is to allow people with a keen interest in radio broadcasting, to learn about how it works, and gain experience broadcasting to an audience, enabling them to hone their skills and progress to more traditional broadcast stations as a profession.
Sense Radio broadcasts from a modern facility in Birmingham, with presenters providing programming from around the United Kingdom, all completely streamed via the internet, meaning that anyone with a broadband connection and a microphone attached to their computer could become a broadcaster.
Professionally run by a dedicated group of individuals, each with a vast array of knowledge in their particular fields, Sense Radio aims to become a trusted brand connected with innovations in broadcasting via new methods such as online, mobile telephones, IP Television and peer to peer streaming technologies.
Sense Radio is owned and operated by Sixhits Digital Radio Ltd, which has been broadcasting via new media methods since the launch of Sixhits Digital Radio in December 2006.
Sense Radio’s Managing Director, Kevin Coy, commented; “The re-brand and re-launch of Sixhits Digital Radio to create Sense Radio marks a dramatic change, and a huge leap forward for online and digital radio. Professionally run stations, and high quality programmes presented by real people are few and far between, not only online but also on digital platforms across the UK. We aim to address this and re-dress the balance. We will provide the listening public with a product that is not only entertaining, but something to get involved in and be proud of.”
Sense Radio can be heard at senseradio.com, on Wi-Fi radios, on compatible mobile telephones, and via the Octoshape peer-to-peer platform.
