Added: (Mon Sep 28 2009)

This month, the world’s favourite creative showcase for television and viral advertising, short films and pop promos, now in its 25th year, gets a 21st century makeover.

Reader Competition – your chance to win 1 of 25 free subscriptions.

Anyone and everyone who works or has worked in creative advertising at any point over the last 25 years will know The Reel. The creative showcase has now been peddling its wares for a little over a quarter of a century under many guises, (XNC, The Register) before being re-branded as The Reel in 2005.

Used by agency creatives, directors, brand managers, editors and producers, The Reel is their premier source of creative inspiration, contacts and talent. Whether they be a runner looking for examples of ads featuring butterflies or a creative frantically searching for their own name (we know they do it!), The Reel is the essential one-stop-shop for anyone living in or visiting AdLand.

With a live content count of 50,000+ searchable pieces, The Reel's ever-expanding archive is full of creative you know, creative you love and creative you haven't seen anywhere else. With each and every piece featured thoroughly credited with full creative details - from the agency behind the concept to the team that made it look pretty.

So what’s new?

This month, creatives will step manfully into the new website at www.thereel.net to experience the brand new sights (oooooohh), sounds (aaaaaahh) and smells (eeerghh!) of the wonderful renovated world of Reel.

With over 50,000 ads all rendered in flash video, users can now Search, Share, Interact and Keep film creative that inspires, shocks and pioneers the world of film. From 80’s classics to modern masterpieces, you’ll find it here.

In addition to the substantial footage overhaul, The Reel also now houses an online community, where users can comment, rate and gather their favourite pieces of work in a unique ‘playlist and channel’ system’ for other reel users to see.

If that’s not enough, subscribers can also download the footage of the spots they cherish which they can use and watch at their own discretion.

Jamie Madge, UK Editor had this to say “The Reel has been showcasing the best in TV advertising, virals, pop promos and short films for 25 years now, and the

new website puts the whole shebang at users fingertips. With snazzy flash video, full creative credits and a fool-proof (and genius-sating) search engine, inspiration and research has never been easier to get your mitts on. Whether you’re in the biz and need to know who, what and where, or a casual admire of things that move and make sound and make you smile/laugh/cry, The Reel is the place to see it.”

Don’t just take our word for it!

“My group is responsible for keeping our entire agency network up-to-date regarding the most interesting and creative executions found in the marketing world, and The Reel is an invaluable tool that helps us stay on top of what's hot in the film world. The Reel manages to encapsulate a very large cross section of the world's advertising, and the director features and country spotlights are a wonderful way to highlight new and emerging talents. We've come to depend on The Reel for inspiration and insight into the rapidly changing marketing landscape we see every day.”
Fuad Admad, Leo Burnett USA

“Man this website's cool! This knocks the socks off of anything else out there!”
Mel Clynick, 2am Films

“Have just been using your new website and just wanted to say that it’s f***ing great. Well done!”
Dom Bridges, Director, Mustard Films

“When I'm looking for a bit of inspiration - and need to know what's going on in the industry - I'll check The Reel's blog. The guys know what they are talking about. And they talk about it in a particularly idiosyncratic style. That works for me.”
Kerrie Finch - FinchFactor

“Clicked on a link on one of your tweets and arrived at your new website, oooooh its well fancy innit! Nice work boys, am liking it.”
Tanya Hempenstall, Mustard Film Company
