Online divorce accounts for 2% of total for England and Wales

Online Divorce may have accounted for at least 2% of all the divorces in England and Wales according to Mark Keenan, The founder and Operations Director of the website at www.divorce-online.co.uk
We have achieved very good growth in sales of all our online family law packages during 2001, with the self help divorce package growing the most strongly.
There were 144,000 divorces in 2000-2001 according to government statistics and on the basis of those figures we as a company have processed close to 2% of all the divorces in England and Wales.
The potential for growth in the business remains huge with the majority of divorces being uncontested and not necessarily needing the involvement of a lawyer except to deal with financial or children related problems, which can actually be dealt with separatley for the main divorce proceedings.
With Legal Help (Legal Aid) only being avaliable to the very poorest consumers for the divorce itself, it makes sense to the average consumer to try and have as much of the procedure dealt with cheaply, leaving the financial and children matters to be dealt with by lawyers where Legal Aid is avaliable.
The average divorce not including children or finance related matters can cost as much as £1,000 in some areas whereas the Divorce-Online service is £80.00.
Divorce-Online does not just prepare the documentation but also gives procedural advice on the proceedings and will amend documents and supply futher documents where the court has raised queries.
