Meridian Broadcasting, using Avoca Communications interactive text services, can now instantly communicate with mobile users.
Meridian traditionally use telephone and mail to interact with their target audience. To widen the options that viewers have to communicate Meridian has introduced a new text request service for instant, cost-effective interaction.
Meridian’s health campaign “Energize” recently used Avoca’s text club service. During the campaign mobile users sent a text, containing their name and address details, as a request to receive further information. Avoca Communication’s hosted Interactive Text Platform received the messages, logged them into a database and sent an automatic reply. As the reply was instant the mobile users knew their message had been received. The stored data was then used for a direct mail out.
The mobile number was advertised on TV, radio, print and Meridian’s website. The campaign received an overwhelming response with over one third of the requests coming in via text. Although Meridian viewers do not necessarily fall into the demographic that send text messages, once given the option the response was outstanding.
“The great thing about using a text number in a campaign is that it can be used in all forms of advertising and the mobile user can instantly respond. Meridian’s campaign was a perfect example of how text can be used to provoke interest,” states Paul Targett, Managing Director of Avoca Communications.
