Pressbox (Press Release) -
The South Central Ambulance team is buzzing with excitement at the upcoming 4th series of Real Rescues; which documents the good work of all the emergency services.
The previous programmes have proved popular with a wide audience and regularly pull in 25% of the viewers. This latest instalment of the documentary will be unique as it is due to be broadcast live from the Hampshire Emergency Operations Centre, and aims to highlight the fantastic work of the ambulance service and the varied roles within it.
Andy Rudge, Emergency Care Practitioner (ECP) said “I’m really looking forward to this new exciting series of Real Rescues. My role as an ECP is relatively new and because of this what we do is often not known. We are highly trained Paramedics, and are able to examine and treat patients on scene for falls, wounds and minor infections; now meaning less need to attend an Emergency Department.”
Over the last six months, cameras have followed ambulance crews across Hampshire observing the pressures and rewards of their daily duties.
Real Rescues is produced by local production company Topical TV and will be broadcast live on BBC 1 at 9:15am- 10:00 am from the 2nd November; but repeats of the show can be viewed on the BBC i player.
Peter Hayton, editor for Topical TV said “Real Rescues has proved extremely popular with viewers who love to see the service in action; the live element allows us to get to know the very vital work of the EOC staff and what they do is very impressive; they are the calm to the panic on the end of the call.”
With regards to returning to SCAS to film this latest series, he explained
“We’ve built up a good relationship with the SCAS emergency team and have come to appreciate; even more, the amazing work they do.”
The service would like to thank all of the members of the public and staff that took part in the programme.
