Added: (Mon Sep 24 2001)

Pressbox (Press Release) - Funny man Lee Hurst is to be guest-of-honour at this year’s Yorkshire Bank Northern Business Journalist of the Year Awards dinner.

The dinner takes place at the Royal Station Hotel, in central Newcastle, on Thursday 15 November. All bona fide entrants to the awards will be invited to the complimentary dinner, but entries close on Friday September 28.

This year’s bigger and better scheme is making awards in six categories:

Newspaper of the Year

Magazine of the Year

Daily Newspaper Journalist of the Year

Weekly Newspaper Journalist of the Year

Magazine Journalist of the Year

Broadcast Journalist of the Year

Business journalists and editors based between the Trent and the Scottish border can enter any or all of them.

Each entry must be accompanied by a registration form. These are available from Alexander Wright, at Yorkshire Bank, on 0113 247 2510 (e-mail: alexander.wright@eu.nabgroup.com)

The prize for the winners of each of the four categories for individuals will be £800.

This is the third year in which Yorkshire Bank has run the awards, which are the most prestigious of their kind outside London.

Stuart Grimshaw, Yorkshire Bank’s Chief Executive, said: “We’re delighted to be able to confirm that Lee Hurst will be joining us in Newcastle at the awards dinner and I am looking forward to an evening with many of the north’s business journalists.

“We would, though, reiterate that the closing date for entries is now looming. It would be a great shame if any eligible journalist missed out on the chance to win a prestigious award and a memorable evening because they failed to get their submission to us on time.”
