Pressbox (Press Release) - Whelans of Wexford St. sees launch of Irelands First Underground MP3 Chart gigs on Thursday June 9th. www.cpu.ie lets you listen to hundreds of different artists tracks for free and the top 3 most popular artists get to play a monthly chart gig. An Ceol Beo television productions are filming the series of gigs for an upcoming programme and DVD release and several A&R men have shown huge interest in checking out the most popular artists of a site getting over 3 million hits a month. CPU launched their artist section on Halloween night in the Village, where the likes of Mani from Primal Scream, Andy Rourke from The Smiths, Lee Gorton from Alfie and Stazi travelled from Manchester especially for the night to play and were joined by Humanzi, now signed to Fiction with Snow Patrol, The Subtonics, Channel 1 and The Mighty Stef from Dublin. Since then the site has been gaining recognition as being one of the very best music sites and were shortlisted for the Digital Media Awards this year up against the likes of Eircom, TodayFM and CDBaby.
