Pressbox (Press Release) -
Epinoisis Software announced the Real-Time version of Digital Ear for Windows, a software application that allows accurate conversion of live audio (e.g. a singing human voice) into MIDI.
The latest version extends the value of Digital Ear by transforming it into a MIDI controller. Now, musicians have the ability to produce MIDI output without using the traditional keyboard, but by directly singing into a microphone. The MIDI data are sent to a music synthesizer for playback with any timbre, or can be recorded by a sequencer for mixing with other tracks, viewing the notation or further processing.
The ability to capture the nuance and expressive power of the human music player or vocalist depends on dynamics and articulation. Digital Ear sends high-resolution pitch events closely matching those of the original sound. Musical effects like vibrato, tremolo, pitch-bend, or portamento are converted and reproduced into any voice of your synthesizer.
