DAB is the Betamax to online radio's VHS!

Pressbox (Press Release) - Press Release 11th February 2008 Midday GMT

In a statement released by radio owners G-CAP today, they said that DAB was not a viable platform, something Ross Hemsworth Managing Director of Glastonbury Radio said two years ago when he compared DAB to Betamax against online digital radio's VHS!

As FM struggles to keep advertisers and listeners, and DAB struggles full-stop, online radio stations are seeing INCREASES in listeners and advertisers.

Glastonbury Radio now gets almost 6 million hits a month and has a lively interactive audience of listeners from all corners of the world.

The Daily Mail reported last year that the Internet had overtaken TV as the nation's favourite past-time, so it is little wonder that more and more people are listening to the radio on their PC's whilst surfing the net. The fact that many of these surfers buy online with a credit card at the ready, makes them an ideal target audience for advertisers!

For some years Ross Hemsworth has stated the fact that online digital radio IS the new media and the very future of radio, yet has been lambasted on FM biased sites like Media UK, and ignored by other industry insiders, but at last the proof is out there! He is about to be proven right in a very big way!

Glastonbury Radio which only launched in March 2007 is already now valued at over £1 million and is growing at an amazing rate, with advertising and listenership on the increase every week.

The fact that OFCOM has no say on Internet Radio station broadcasts means more freedom of speech, topics covered in areas that FM doesn't dare to tread and new music and presenting talent is given a REAL chance to shine! Glastonbury Radio is fully licensed for music broadcasts with PPL etc - but does not have an "industry regulator" stopping us from getting the real truth out there on programmes such as Now THAT'S Weird (www.nowthatsweird.co.uk) and The Hemp Show!
