BIRMINGHAM HIP HOP ARTIST NOMINATED FOR
“BEST UNSIGNED ARTIST”
BY UNDERGROUND MUSIC AWARDS
Birmingham born and raised rapper Dean Leith, aka Blaq-i has been nominated alongside 11 other artists of all different genres by the Underground Music Awards.
The winner of the Underground Music Award will perform at Po Na Na in London on the 4th December 2003. However, nominees will perform at the Press Launch taking place at the Hard Rock Café, Mayfair, London on the 6th November.
The young unsigned artist from Handsworth is also about to release his debut single “Supastar” (b-side “I Might Jus’ Be”) on Birmingham based independent label - Stronghorn Records. Yet to be signed by a major label, Blaq-i is currently working towards completing his first album “Blacklist”. Writing all his own lyrics and with the majority of backing tracks being provided by Birmingham based producers such as J?Raw (NCM Entertainment), Tomo (Shawdowless) and 76 (Stronghorn Records) has ensured that the production so far is that of a local consortium.
With several UK and overseas performances as well as radio interviews under his belt, Blaq-i is sure to show the UK hip-hop industry that there is a mass amount of talent just waiting to be recognised in the Midlands.
