AIB announces major international broadcasting conference
The Association for International Broadcasting, the trade association for the cross-border broadcasting industry, has announced its first conference examining the issues facing international television and radio broadcasters.
International Broadcasting 2002: The Global Media Business in an Uncertain World will take place in Manchester, England on 30th April 2002 at the Crowne Plaza Hotel, The Midland. The AIB conference comes the day before the opening of the Commonwealth Broadcasting Association's General Conference at the same venue.
The AIB conference is designed to give international broadcasters, programme makers, equipment manufacturers and technical gurus in international television and radio stations a status report on developments in this multi-billion dollar industry. The Conference will provide advice on how to maintain and grow audiences and create new revenue streams while delivering the very best programming to global viewers and listeners.
During the event, senior representatives from leading global companies
including BT Broadcast Services, SES Astra, Autocue, EuropeStar, Dalet and WorldSpace, and senior executives at major international broadcasters such as National Public Radio, Population Communications International and Extreme Broadcasting, will explore the challenges facing cross-border broadcasters and the opportunities presented by increasingly flexible production tools and more closely-targeted delivery opportunities.
A wide range of issues from the need for reliable news in the developing world through to interactively-enhanced digital delivery platforms will be addressed through insightful case studies and in-depth presentations from the expert speakers.
"We're delighted to be staging this important conference," comments Simon Spanswick, Managing Director of the Association for International
Broadcasting. "The cross-border broadcasting industry is constantly growing and is worth millions of dollars annually. It encompasses public service and commercial broadcasters, television and radio. It's going digital, while still providing a lifeline in many parts of the world. This conference will address the key issues facing this international industry."
The digital revolution has acted as a catalyst for international
broadcasters and content producers, while converging technologies open up opportunities in reaching new mass-market audiences throughout the world. The AIB Conference will examine these new possibilities while looking in detail at the present state of cross-border television and radio services.
From content through production and delivery to audience research, the AIB Conference is the only event in the broadcasting calendar that focuses exclusively on international television and radio services.
