Fed up with waking up and looking at ugly building and acutely aware of Norfolk's tractor-chugging image, Norfolk entrepreneur Martin Kentish is launching a campaign to turn the County Council's headquarters in to the biggest advert for Norfolk even seen.
Described by a local Norwich man as "Like an ugly piece of cheese" the building has won very few admirers since its opening by the Queen in 1968.
More importantly than covering up an ugly building, the campaign is aiming to help change people's perception of Norfolk both internally and outside the county by giving a bold statement of the achievements of Norfolk companies who focus on design and innovation.
Martin comments "I can remember being wowed by the styling of the first Lotus Elise. So much so I went ahead and bought one without consulting my wife. If this massive banner can move people then we are already on the way to changing Norfolk's carrot-crunching image."
With so many innovative Norfolk companies such as Lotus and RTN (the designers and buildings of the Le Mans winning Bentley), the exact image remains to be decided. However, if the project goes ahead what is certain is the banner on the front of County Hall will be the largest example of a region's promotion in history.
