Internet Shoppers – Make Sure You Get Their Orders This Christmas!

Added: (Thu Oct 27 2005)

If you run an internet shopping site, it’s time to sharpen your wits, tidy up the presentation and implement new strategies – otherwise you could miss out this season.

Online shopping has seen a steady growth each year, and this year is predicted to be no different. So with all these extra pounds being spent online, now is definitely the time to act.

"Cleaning up your site is the first step," says Anna Hinds, marketing copywriter. "Looking afresh at search engine advertising and keyword positioning is another way to improve your site’s statistics. But a little marketing savvy will go a long way, too."

Here are some ideas:

• Consider some additional email newsletters in the run-up to Christmas. Maintain your presence and attract visitors by offering useful content such as gift ideas, decorating plans or festive recipes.

• Clean up your web copy. Are your product descriptions appealing enough to outshine your competitors? Do they inspire desire?

• Create ads or banners for rotation on the home page. Use different creative concepts and test to see which work best. Try banners for ‘Gifts for Dads’ or ‘Stocking-fillers under £10’.

• Think about offering gift vouchers. Cheap to produce and operate – all you need is some dazzling copy and customers overseas or last-minute shoppers will snap them up.
