Arabic Translation Services (ArabTrans) has appointed Mazen Jameel, M.D., Chief Medical Translator
London, UK, August 27, 2004- ArabTrans UK, a privately-held company specialising in Arabic translation services for the medical and pharmaceutical industry worlwide, today announced the appointment of Dr Mazen Jameel, as Chief Medical Translator.
For seven years Dr Jameel studied medicine at Teshreen University in Lattakia, Syria, the only
country in the Arab world to fully-arabize higher education. Unlike many Arabic-speaking medical doctors who studied medicine in English or French, medical terminology and vocabulary are familiar to Dr Mazen in Arabic language - the language used during his degree, as well as English, becaase of his extensive UK work and study experience.
In 1995, Dr Jameel attended four clinical attachments in the UK at New Cross Hospital in Wolverhampton, and Bedford Hospital under supervision of Dr Jackson, Prof Grace, Dr Riding and Mr Hussein.
For three years, from 2000 till 2003, Dr Jameel was SHO in General Surgical Department at Shihan General Hospital, in Aleppo, Syria, performing consultant ward round, and theatre sessions. A fellow of Syrian Medical Association, after passing the IELTS exam, and part one of PLAB test at first attempt in 2003, Dr Mazen undertook the translation from English to Arabic of “A Clinical Guide To Eye Diseases” under supervision of Mr Tataa, Head of Eye Department at Tishreen University, School of Medicine.
Prior to his appointment at ArabTrans Translation Services, for one year Dr Mazen worked at EMSA, Emergency and Medical Services, as a field doctor providing a medical coverage for international oil companies operating in Syria and the Gulf.
Recognised as one of the most qualified and experienced Arabic-English medical translators and proof-readers worldwide, Dr Jameel was appointed as Chief Medical Translator for ArabTrans
