AWA appointed to BAE Systems

Added: (Tue May 18 2010)

Pressbox (Press Release) - Leading digital agency, AWA, has been appointed by global defence company, BAE Systems, to develop the online presence for their UK Education Programme.

The new BAE Systems UK Education Programme website, developed by AWA, will help promote engineering as a career option to school children. In addition to providing a large number of teacher resources and useful information on a career in engineering, it will support a Schools Roadshow which will visit some 300 schools throughout 2010.

The activity is aligned to the Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) curriculum at all Key Stages, and aims to raise the profile of engineering in the UK.

Each year the website will evolve to reflect the new theme of the activity being carried out offline, with the theme for 2010 being Biomimicry and the way that nature inspires engineering innovation.

Richard Hamer, BAE Systems’ Education Programme Director, comments, “AWA presented a host of creatively engaging ideas for the site which had the immediacy and standout required to connect with this school age audience.

“By focusing on concepts such as the use of biomimicry in engineering and encouraging students to rate engineering feats on a ‘cool wall’, we’re confident that the site will play a big role in inspiring the next generation of engineering talent.”

Commenting on the win, Christina Marks, AWA’s Managing Director, said, “We are delighted to be working with BAE Systems.

“Our client told us that the reason for our appointment was our thorough understanding of their business, their communication requirements and the translation of this into a strong creative theme and a site design which effectively supports the objectives of the BAE Systems UK education programme.”
