Book to be released December 1, 2005

New City, NY, October 20, 2005-- New York Attorney Alicia M. Crowe has penned a book to help single fathers reconnect with their children. “Real Dads Stand Up!” is an easy to read step-by-step guide to give single fathers a greater understanding of how to navigate through child support and custody proceedings in family court. $19.95 PB. ISBN 0-9764772-0-3

Real Dads Stand Up is a 230-page legal help book published by Blue Peacock Press and edited by poet Louis Reyes Rivera, a professor of African American, Puerto Rican and Caribbean Literature and History. The Foreword is written by Bill Stephney, the CEO for Stepsun Music and co-founder of both Def Jam Records and the Rap group, Public Enemy.

Other noted leaders who have endorsed Real Dads Stand Up are Malik Yoba, award winning actor, youth and community activist, and founder of The Malik Yoba Fatherhood Project, a non-profit foundation based in New York City, and Peter Holoman, director of the Male Development and Empowerment Center at Medgar Evers College.

Ms. Crowe, who calls her book the Father Friendly Guide, has represented fathers and mothers in family court cases for over a decade. Real Dads Stand Up is part of an ongoing movement to rebuild a community from fatherlessness and to encourage further better parenting in the Black Community. This timely book heeds even Bill Cosby's call to action.

"I propose solutions to reconnecting fathers in the lives of their children," explains Ms. Crowe, "despite the failed relationship with the other parent. My aim is to help fathers deal and cope with the legal reality of being a single parent. I give single fathers tools that they need to help them work better with their financial responsibility. I also show both parents how to get through the court system in order to gain access to their children, she adds.

Alicia M. Crowe is a partner in the law firm of Crowe & Crowe and practices law with her sister, Alice Crowe. She is a writer, activist, lecturer, and community organizer with a degree in Political Science from Adelphi University and a Law degree from Howard University School of Law. Admitted to the New York and Connecticut bars, as well as to the U.S. Supreme Court Bar, she maintains a web site www.realdadsstandup.com through which interested parties may contact her.
