DivorceYes.com, an online legal service founded by Jeff Miller and Miller Law Associates, has seen enough. The law firm is shining a light on low quality websites selling FL divorce papers and document preparation services that aren’t up to par to unsuspecting consumers.
“We want to put the document preparation companies out of business. They aren't lawyers. They haven't the foggiest idea about Florida divorce law. Most are from out of state,” explained Jeff Miller. “They sell access to a software program that fills in blanks on a form. No lawyers. No real help. Mostly they get it wrong. Mostly they don't include all of the required papers, and they charge too much.”
To combat these issues, DivorceYes.com has launched its own document preparation services in which their lawyers actually prepare all the required FL divorce papers on behalf of their clients. This service starts as low as $99 for an uncontested divorce with no kids, and it gives clients the advantage of having their papers prepared by a real Florida divorce lawyer.”
About those other document preparation websites? Miller offers a harsh warning, “Some are practicing law without a license, which is a 5 year felony in Florida. The Florida Bar goes after some of them but doesn't have the manpower to shut them all down. Cyberspace can be hard to get a handle on. We aim to put them out of business, which is why we are charging so little.”
