Author Hailey Giblin Attacked by parents Grimsby Evening Telegraph.

Added: (Fri Aug 11 2006)

Once again Author Hailey Giblin has come under attack this time by her parents. Amanda Edwards, 48 and NHS worker and Wayne Edwards, 48 Process worker and Bankrupt both of Davenport Drive in Cleethorpes, made their feelings clear in an article in their local newspaper Grimsby Evening Telegraph.
They describe in detail how their lives have been disrupted after their daughter was horrifically attacked by the then to be Soham Murderer Ian Huntley. They go on to describe how their boys have been effected by the trauma of the publication of Hailey's Story, a very controversial book about their daughter's life that describes the attack she sustained.

It has to be noted that this very article is somewhat selfish in the fact that the effortlessly ramble on about how their poor lives have been affected yet make little mention to how their poor daughter must have been affected.

Further critisism must also be made at how they attack the integrity of their daughters book Hailey's Story which seemingly airs on the border of jealousy being now that they have not had contact with ther daughter for at least two years. While Hailey Giblin is banging on the Governments door to help her in her tireless efforts for justice her so called loving parents can do little else but make disparaging remarks about her book.

Seemingly, everyone has their right to their opinion yet launching an out and out attack on their child will have left the reader of such an article wondering why these fine parents are not by their childs side banging a very loud drum such as she is.

I think it fit that the public make their on conceptions but my very strong feeling towards this article is that any right minded individual should dismiss the contents of it. And further to remind ourselves of what Hailey Giblin actually endured at the age of 11 with little comfort from anyone.

What indeed has to be noted is that Mr and Mrs Edwards in 2003 did infact sign a contract for their story with The Mail on Sunday and it is unknown what happened to the very same proceeds of that contract

Speaking with Hailey today she said; " I refuse to get in a cat fight with anyone regarding the truthful account I have Published in my Biography Hailey's Story. My co-author and I worked extremely hard in putting together this book and frankly if my co-author thought in any way that it was an untrueful account he would have never agreed to help me to write it. I no longer let attacks such as these upset me anymore I have been attacked by people since I was eleven and I am far to busy with my fight for justice to let this article stand in my way, but what I will say is that my book was well liebel read by my Publishing company and I quite catorgorically confirm that the contents of Hailey's Story is as true as the nose on my face".
Asked if a conciliation with her family was possible she added. " I cannot mix with people that disrespect me and dont wish to comment further".

Richard Scorer, Hailey's Lawyer, of Law Firm Pannone was unavailable for comment.
