FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

National Promise Day – 19th September 2005

National Promise Day should be held in great acclaim. On Monday 19th September millions of people all over the world will be making a promise that they plan to keep. Mothers, fathers, sisters, brothers, children, grand children, friends, businesses and even the governments will make a promise – all with different outcomes. So what is different about this day? National Promise Day is the brainchild of Viv Griffiths, director of Buyauniquegift.com. After years of research and through personal experience, Viv has found that herself and many others are constantly being disappointed by failed promises, and in conjunction with this there are many people who have offered a service for a special day or event, but have no tangible gift. Buyauniquegift.com solves these dilemmas by packaging and presenting a special promise. A personalised promise is registered, placed in an exclusive card, sealed in fine tissue within an executive box and delivered to the recipient. Sending a promise will make someone feel valued and special and will become a memorable keepsake. A promise can be for any occasion whether it be for Christmas, Fathers Day, Mothers Day or for a wedding occasion and is the most unique gift of all. A promise from someone close to spend time with you could be the most treasured gift a person could receive. So why not make a promise on Monday 19th September or any other day of the year – because keeping your promise could be the best gift someone could receive. To make your promise, visit online at www.buyauniquegift.com.

Below is a true story of how a promise gave so much joy!

‘A wedding without a hitch’

‘Our wedding day was to be the best day ever! Matthew and I had planned the day to the tiniest detail from the moment he had proposed to me in January 2005? We had a fantastic engagement party and what made this extra special was that we were reunited with all our school friends from Bishop Luff School (where Matthew and I first met).

Our wedding plans started off as a low-key affair, only close friends, and no fuss at a local village hall, but soon they moved on to more lavish ideas with the support of my close friend Kathryn from Seal Weddings. With her contacts, she said that for the same money I was spending on a low key affair, she could organise a much more lavish event at their country house wedding venue. Shortly afterwards Kathryn took us along to visit the Georgian House and it was absolutely fabulous. Kathryn promised she would take all the planning off our hands so we could enjoy the run up to the wedding. We left it to Seal Weddings to organise the marquee, caterers, florist, table decorations, and hand made stationery.

Things were going great, time had moved on, and we only had one week to our special day. I woke up that morning feeling pretty rough with bad stomach cramps (which was unlike me as I had been on a high for the past six months). That day we were planning to attend our school friend’s baby’s christening. I thought the pain would go away, but it just worsened, so Matt and I attended the emergency doctors surgery. We came away from the surgery and I went straight to bed (sadly missing the christening). The pain did not get better throughout Sunday night and by Monday morning I was rushed into hospital to have major surgery and a blood transfusion due to a burst ovary – all of five days before my wedding! I was determined to get better and not miss my day and I was also missing my daughter Katie terribly. While I was getting better, my mind started wandering over the wedding plans – I found it hard to concentrate and was becoming distraught about the arrangements. I was let home from the hospital on the Wednesday and my darling Matthew must have spoken to Kathryn, as on entering our home I noticed an envelope with a card box in it. On opening it, I found it to be a beautiful ‘Promise’ from Kathryn. It read:

Dear Alison and Matthew

I promise everything is ready, so please don’t worry, the most important thing is you!

Love from Kathryn x!

This meant so much to me and I knew my dear friend would not let me down and with her and Matt’s support it gave me time to pull myself together emotionally and physically.

On Thursday my parents drove me to the bridal shop to have the final fitting for my wedding dress. Looking in the mirror I felt like crying. Because of the swelling from the operation, the dress no longer fitted and had no room to be let out. My parents were fantastic and took me round all the local bridal shops until I found a dress that looked great and could be taken away that day – no more tears, I told myself.

Kathryn took control of the wedding, as promised, with me sitting around guiding her. We spent two days setting up the marquee and decorating the venue. Occasionally we were plagued with problems, from the linen being wrong twice, to the vacuum cleaner blowing up and the electricity in the marquee not working. On the eve of our wedding the weather took a turn for the worse. Wild and windy was the order of the day and this gave me a sinking feeling – what else could go wrong!

Opening my bedroom curtains next morning gave me a beautiful surprise – the view was sunny and bright and there was only one thing I needed to get out of the way before I could enjoy the day ahead – my stitches! Finally at 2.15pm (15 minutes late due to the car running out of petrol) I reached my destination. I felt so proud to walk down the aisle with my father and Matt was waiting at the other end for me.

After the wedding ceremony we moved on to the reception venue. Kathryn and her team had done a beautiful job.

Our wedding day was perfect – the best day of our lives!’

So why not make a ‘promise’ as Kathryn did, it doesn’t have to be expensive – a gift that is affordable and the most priceless of all!
