Yorkshire website calls for support from groups and societies

A WEBSITE aimed at promoting the history and culture of Yorkshire is urging groups and societies in the county to get in touch.
Yorkshireforever.co.uk is to create an online resource which will reflect all that is great about the county.
Steve Overend, who runs the site, says: "We initially wanted something online that people could use to read news and views about Yorkshire and that's expanded to include news from groups and societies too.
"We'd like to extend an open invitation to any Yorkshire-based group, or one that promotes the county, to get in touch.
"We have forums and updated news from around the county but we would also like to build up our lists of useful links for site visitors."
He added: "The site is also for anyone wanting to publish news about their group, post requests in the forums or ask for help.
"We are creating a database of things to do and places to go within the county too."
There's also a chance for opinionated tykes to write a blog for other Yorkshire folk to read.
Mr Overend added: "The best thing is that we want something that will always exist online - no matter what direction the internet takes we will keep Yorkshireforever going."
