Woowho.co.uk, the revolutionary new dating service on the net has commissioned a brand new extensive survey through Simons Priest Associates into the dating habits of single people in the UK.
And with St. Valentine’s Day approaching quickly, the results shed some interesting new light on people’s dating habits, proving that big differences still exist between the sexes and the North/South divide is no urban myth. Love may well be in the air, but for some it seems that if music be the food of love, then they’re completely tone deaf. Only 9% of single people in the UK expect to get flowers from an admirer this Valentine’s. Infact, twice as many (18%) expect to spend the night drowning their sorrows down the pub with their mates instead.
It seems the opportunities for love are almost boundless for those willing to take the plunge. Over one in three singles expect to receive absolutely nothing for Valentine’s this year and a further 5% expect that the only thing they’ll get is a card from their mum or dad!
Thankfully, romance isn’t dead (in the south) just yet. 41% of those living in the south thought that a romantic dinner was the ideal first date compared to only 20% of those in the north. Infact, 29% of northerners would much rather spend their first date in the pub!
Preparing for a date also poses some interesting questions about the state of the nation’s personal hygiene. While 84% take a shower or bath before meeting their prospective date, over one in four do not bother to brush their teeth. A further 51% don’t bother to change their underwear, either not considering that their date will get anywhere near their maturing undies, or just not worried about their ‘organic’ undergarments being on show!
The differences between the sexes are abundantly clear too. Nearly one in four men admit that they are likely to be wooed by a good body (compared to only one in ten women). For women it’s compliments that count with 36% putting them top of the wooing hit list. The ideal dates were predictable enough with 34% of men listing a model as the type of person they would most like to woo and 47% of women a man in a uniform. However, women should watch out as men are twice as likely to lie about their job on a date as women are, with 16% admitting to having done so compared to only 9% of women. So if he says he has a uniform check it’s not prison issue or the Batman pyjamas he’s had since he was five!
However, women get the last laugh as 41% of men admit to calling their date back within a day compared to only 18% of women. In fact, nearly one in three women don’t even bother to call their date back – they wait for the man to make the next move!!
