State Lotteries Mistaken for Online Gambling and are Penalized

Pressbox (Press Release) - Credit card companies having difficulty separating which payments are for gambling and which are state lotteries causing a major loss in lottery revenue.
It’s a known fact that the online gambling industry received a major blow since the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act was applied in the USA back in 2006, but it wasn’t the only industry which was hurtfully affected by this law. It is believed that State Lotteries have also an interest in the outcome of US online gambling laws.

After the UIGEA was put into action and was enforced many online casino and gambling sites continued to operate targeting US customers. What wasn’t expected to happen was a loss in money for the state lotteries as the laws weren’t applied to them.

Many state lotteries have been filing complaints that credit card companies have blocked and rejected online subscriptions to their lotteries because of the UIGEA. Lotteries are supposed to be off the hook of the UIGEA but the credit card companies haven’t been able to differentiate between gambling site payments and lottery payments yet.

The frank proposal is being watched very closely by lotteries as it affects them also I some way or another. The frank bill hasn’t been passed and accepted last time it was brought to action and was immediately rejected by Republican congress. Now the democrats are in power online gambling sites and lotteries are hoping for a positive outcome.
