Shoppers net concerns solved at Manchester University- www.acceptingu.com

One of the greatest problems for anyone hoping to trade on the Internet and for anyone wishing to buy from the net is the fear of credit card fraud. If you cannot trust the supplier then many people will not trust the net. A new company, Actium Technologies, based at Manchester University, has now solved this problem of trust.

The company has launched its new service to the small to medium sized enterprise (SME) sector – www.acceptingu.com. The new service aims to free people from the fear of trading on the net by offering a safe trading environment for both traders and their customers. Using a unique escrow system to protect the interests of both parties, acceptingu.com allows anyone to buy on the net safe in the knowledge that their payments are protected until they have received and are happy with the goods they ordered.

The issue of remote selling has always been fraught with difficulties: do you trust the supplier, are you going to get what you ordered, will you get your money back if you are not happy? For the trader there is the equal difficulty of proving that they are worth dealing with when the old idea of face-to-face contact cannot happen on the net. Through acceptingU.com these difficulties are overcome by offering an intermediate exchange service complete with a whole raft of free tools and backup services.

These tools include all the facilities and applications needed for any existing or new SME to trade on the net. From providing web hosting, to the software necessary for people to shop on the net and for the trader to deliver the goods every step in the process has been catered for.

The core solution is that acceptingu.com acts as a trusted party- accepting orders and payments from customers while holding the money until the customer is fully satisfied with the goods. Only then will the trader receive his payment.

Founded by finance expert Mohammed Zulficar Choudhary and computer expert Michael Bond, and backed by the resources of Manchester University’s Campus Ventures, and Manchester Airport’s WorkNorth II, a venture capital fund, the company has completed all its development work in less than six months – a task that other dotcom start-ups struggle to achieve. Though the company is a web based service it has not benefited from the roller coaster gold rush boom of the last couple of years. It has created the system within budget and on time and has have gone from strength to strength.
