Replacing Adobe Flash

Added: (Thu Jan 26 2012)

Pressbox (Press Release) - Since the evolution of web development through HTML5, many practices had drastically changed, including the use of Adobe Flash in websites which, according to many web experts, had declined due to the fact that HTML5 can also produce the same animation as well as movie that Adobe Flash had been recognized for in web development.

Rumors
Even though HTML5 has been well known among web developers for years, it became the topic of mainstream media in April 2010 after Apple Inc's then-CEO Steve Jobs issued a public letter titled "Thoughts on Flash" where he concludes that Adobe "Flash is no longer necessary to watch video or consume any kind of web content" and that "new open standards created in the mobile era, such as HTML5, will win".

This sparked a debate in web development circles where some suggested that while HTML5 provides enhanced functionality, developers must consider the varying browser support of the different parts of the standard as well as other functionality differences between HTML5 and Flash.

Facts
According to many web experts, including those from different web design Manila companies, the reason why HTML5 had been rumored to replace the use of Adobe Flash is because HTML5 is also capable of creating the same animation and movies that Adobe Flash had been known for.

However, though HTML5 can be used as a perfect alternative to the use of Adobe Flash, HTML5 still requires the use of either JavaScript or CSS3 to create the same animation that Adobe Flash is capable of. But unlike Adobe Flash, HTML5 makes use of lesser bandwidth as well as CPU usage

Performance Issue with Adobe Flash
One reason why many web developers today preferred the use of HTML5 compared to Adobe Flash is with performance issues with Adobe Flash, particularly now that mobile Internet had become a large market.

According to many web experts, including those from different Web design Philippines companies, due to the amount of bandwidth and CPU usage required to run an Adobe Flash application, many have sought ways on how to avoid the use of Adobe Flash for mobile websites, such as with Apple devices which had dropped its support for the use of Adobe Flash in their hand-held devices.

Some users, most especially those on Mac OS X and Linux, have complained about the relatively high CPU usage of Flash for video playback. This was partially because the Flash plugin did not use the GPU to render video, which is also an issue with handheld devices which lack the CPU power to accommodate Adobe Flash. This is the reason why Steve Jobs had heavily supported the use of HTML5 in web development.

Because Apple’s handheld devices had gained a lot of success in the market, which now has the largest market share all over the world, Adobe Systems had announced in November of 2011 that it will discontinue development of Flash for mobile devices and reorient its efforts in developing tools utilizing HTML 5.
