Pressbox (Press Release) -
The specialists of DesktopMoney LTD have done a research about shift in legal behavior of Internet marketers and big online brands and came to the conclusion that the idea of not patenting inventions is becoming more popular in the minds of online business community.
The idea of not patenting an invention sounds strange to business minded people. However more and more inventors of website development and promotion software and tools, owners of professional website development services or social network solutions join the trend and do not patent their technological inventions or patent it only partially.
As the business community comes to this decision there must be a serious reason for it.
The roots of this trend go back to Google who started to exercise this approach. The Google patenting behavior is similar to "puzzle patenting". Imagine that Google's search engine ranking algorithm consists of millions of "puzzles". Google is patenting most of these puzzles and also the "new puzzles" that will or will not be included into the algorithm - this vagueness about whether each of the "puzzles" makes impossible for search engine optimizing gurus to shamelessly manipulate with the algorithm.
Very soon the owners of programs, software, solutions and scripts understood that this approach can save them from copying of their products by other programmers. When the solution and its source code is patented it gets to public access which means that anybody can legally access the code, make some improvements, add some new features to the product - and release the new product.
With the old - offline - technology it would take much time to copy the invention, because someone needed to find necessary materials, maybe even complicated tools and machinery, and in a matter of several months or even in a year create "new" product. But in the online world it is enough just to hire a programmer and in a matter of 1-2 months the new product will be ready.
As the research shows, many inventors and business people from the online market start understanding and implementing the practice of avoiding the patenting.
