OBJECTIVE IMAGING ANNOUNCES THE RELEASE OF THE LATEST VERSION OF MULTI RESOLUTION IMAGING (MRI) SOFTWARE.

Essex, United Kingdom, 1st December 2000 – Objective Imaging, part of the Objective group, who provide custom eCommerce Web Site and Database solutions in the UK, have announced the release of V2.0 of the MRI software range. The software is written by 2B Software Engineering but exclusively sold and marketed by Objective Imaging.

The MRI software currently comes in three versions and provides state of the art image compression and manipulation facilities to images as they are downloaded to a web browser with no plug ins required. The software can offer incredible performance enhancements and flexibility to any web site that hosts image files and will be of particular interest to any web site that hosts ‘freespace’, eCommerce sites and new media sites.

Unedited images can be loaded onto a web server where the MRI software can be configured to pre-render the images for image quality, image size and resolution as well as many other features at download time.

Additional tools allow the control to either be passed to the user, which would be ideal for an image library or controlled by ASP or HTML to allow a web site designer control of the images, which is ideal for an eCommerce shop application. This means that downloaded images are always smaller, faster and require less bandwidth. Web site developers need no longer waste time creating multiple web site images from the original source image or make assumptions to suit different resolution web browsers

“The software is incredible in operation with images visibly loading in a fraction of the usual time. The product has also cut the time needed by our web developers to create a site dramatically, whilst offering better web site user benefits for practically no extra work. We were convinced the first time we saw it in operation,” says Objective Imaging’s development director, Martin Black.

V2.0 adds 2 new products as well as Windows NT support to the existing Unix version. The software is available as MRI Compressor TM, MRI Server TM or a ‘lite’ version of MRI Server TM. The MRI Compressor version offers server-side compression of JPEG files while the MRI Server software additionally offers the full range of resizing and other manipulation features, which can be controlled at the server or from the web browser via user control or code control. User Java applets and ASP/HTML code examples are supplied. The ‘lite’ version offers a fixed set of compression levels and no user applets.

A fourth ‘Pro’ version that has the capability to use plug-in filters will be available Q4-00/Q1-01. The first two filters available will be an on-the-fly unsharp mask and a contrast adjustment filter.
