GAYnatter is a website for gay, bi and curious men that pledges never to charge users for using it or any of the services on it.
GAYnatter (http://www.gaynatter.co.uk) is a website aimed at gay, bi and curious men. This free website has been launched to compete with the growing number of “pay-for-use” gay websites available today.
The concept is to allow users to take full advantage of the site, drawing its running costs from affiliate revenue and advertising, as well as the online shop. Unlike other gay orientated sites it does not charge a subscription for accessing the site. Its purpose is to provide a site that does not start levying charges for services most visitors expect on a website of this nature, for example, chat rooms and private messages. It also provides a lifestyle section where users can read reviews and find information on gay related matters.
Dave Parker, website co-founder commented “The problem with most sites similar to GAYnatter is that they start gaining a large user base, then expect those users to pay for the privilege of using that site. GAYnatter is different in that it offers a no-nonsense approach to having a portal for gay, bi or curious men a free website. We’ve chosen a platform that allows us to keep our operating costs low, yet give a reliable, free website. In addition to this, we will be offering a lifestyle section contributed to by the users as well as having information important to the gay and bisexual lifestyle.”
He concluded “We understand the site is still in its infancy compared to some others. It is driven by the users, and once they see that it is more than just a glorified chat room, offering amongst other features forums for users to express their views, we believe we will gain a loyal user base. GAYnatter is set to buck the trend in the current market of gay based websites by allowing users to use it for free without the prospect of having to pay for the services at some future point in time.
