How to de-clutter, recycle and do a good deed.

Added: (Wed Jun 06 2007)

International Charities, WaterAid and Sightsavers International have teamed up with South Devon based, Only One Pound to use an innovative web site to raise funds.

At www.onlyonepound.org, site users can list their unwanted books, CDs and DVDs and from every purchase the two charities receive 50p each.

Cathy Shorter from WaterAid said:
WaterAid is excited to be involved in this new venture - it's a great way for people to recycle and raise money for good causes at the same time. Just 56p can pay for a sewerage pipe in Pakistan, helping to prevent disease and improve the health of whole communities.

There is a fixed price of 1.65 for every item for sale on Only One Pound, so site users can get second-hand books, CDs and DVDs at a bargain price and raise funds for the charities at the same time.

Katrina Scaife from Sightsavers added Sightsavers are pleased to be working with Only One Pound; the website is a really original way to recycle unwanted books, CDs and DVDs. The money raised can help Sightsavers to save sight and change lives - just 1 could protect 8 people from river blindness for a year, a major cause of blindness in West and Central Africa.

Only One Pound founder, Steve Gibson said, we are really excited about this partnership. Neither charity has high street shops, so it is a great opportunity for them to broaden their fundraising activities.
