Get desktop notifications if your website goes down

Added: (Tue Dec 22 2009)

Pressbox (Press Release) - The Pingdom Desktop Notifier is a free Windows application that runs in the background and notifies you if your website is down. The application uses the free Pingdom uptime monitoring service and lets you easily get started right inside the application.

After a quick installation the application sits quietly as a small icon in your system tray and won't bother you unless there is a problem with your website.

The Pingdom uptime monitoring service uses a global network of servers to test your website's uptime and response time, making sure it is working ok. Monitoring one website is completely free. If you want to monitor more than one website there are paid options available.

Since the Pingdom Desktop Notifier uses Pingdom's popular monitoring service - already used by tens of thousands of users - you get a ton of bonus features online:

- Full access to all Pingdom functionality and reports via an online control panel.
- Monitor the uptime and response time of websites, email servers, DNS servers or any type of general service connected to the Internet.
- Downtime alerts via email, SMS, Twitter and iPhone push notifications.
- Charts and statistics for uptime, downtime and response time.
- Error analysis performed automatically to help identify problems.
- Daily/weekly/monthly status reports via email.
- Publicly hosted uptime reports (if you want them).

And there is much more. You can learn more about what Pingdom has to offer at www.pingdom.com, but you don't need to do this to use the Pingdom Desktop Notifier. It will work fine on its own.
