Fones4Free.Com - Launches ‘the uncommon sense’ website for buying mobiles online

Added: (Tue Nov 08 2005)

Fones4Free.Com, a web-based mobile phone supplier, has taken the uncommon approach of creating a completely Flash based website with dynamic XML database links, while other sites are sticking to the standard HTML.

The website is part of a re-launch to appeal to a new generation of mobile phone shoppers and aims to make shopping for mobiles online an enjoyable experience. In a shift away from the commoditisation of mobiles and to offer a distinctive appeal to key customer profiles, Fones4Free.Com realise this is a bold move and against the grain of the industry.

“ Fones4Free.Com has gained a reputation for offering distinctive web deals, but this re-launch is to reflect our desire to adapt to the changes and convergence in the mobile sector. We have also noted our core customer base, usually working professionals, want more from their devices too and our aim is to reflect these change.” Said Company Director, Abbas Moaven.

The changes are not all stylistic. Even the technology used, Macromedia Flash, is uncommon because it’s not a favourite of search engine specialist. Unlike HTML, Flash is unlikely to be highly listed on natural searches through leading web search engines. Abbas’ brother and co-Company Director, Amian Moaven explains why.

“ Firstly, the current situation regarding natural search engine listings is like a bunch of market stall holders fighting over the best sites in a Sunday market. As there are only a few good pitches that are ever available, we should consider why our energies are wasted fighting over them. It’s far better to create a user experience that leaves visitors wanting to come back again.” He continued, “Admittedly, we have to work harder to attract customers, but then again, much of our business comes from referrals and other online marketing activity.”

Amian and Abbas both admit the competitiveness within the mobile phone industry has also played a factor too, stating that ‘the industry owes a lot to the independent suppliers for driving customer demand, through innovative propositions’.

Fones4Free.Com are expecting over 60k visitors each month as a result of these changes and will also be offering free text messaging service from the site.
