European Online Advertising Spend Ascends by 40%

Pressbox (Press Release) - The Interactive Advertising Bureau (IAB)– Europe recently published an Internet advertising report. It states that, online advertising in 2007, registered a phenomenal rise of 40% amounting to 11.2 billion Euros. This reflects the growing inclination towards the Internet to contact the common consumer.



According to the report, there is a tremendous hike of 4 billion Euros over the expenditure sum in 2006. The Interactive Advertising Bureau (IAB) reported a rise of 26% in the online ad spend in the U.S.A. Europe has clearly surged ahead in terms of deploying online advertising as an advanced way of advertising, as it is facilitated by the Internet, which works as a direct response system. Though, on an average, European businesses are expending 80 Euros per consumer and U.S. Advertisers are lavishing 91 Euros per consumer. So in Europe there is still scope for further expenditure on online advertising.

As the companies start investing in online advertising, there is a boost in market value of not just the major countries but also the comparatively smaller markets. In the budget for online advertising, around two-thirds is contributed by U.K, France and Germany. Interestingly, the growth rates in smaller countries are also impressive. The boost in online advertising spend in Greece is a meteoric 91%, in Spain it has escalated by 55%, and in Slovenia it is 49%.
