UCKG WINS LAWSUIT AGAINST BELGIUM PARLIAMENT

Added: (Mon Sep 05 2005)

The UCKG's fight for justice continues with the latest victory taking place in Belgium.

A submitted report to the Belgium Parliament in 1997 contained serious accusations against the UCKG and its representatives. Disregarding all the senses of reason, fairness and even of justice, an unfounded report accused the church of serious criminal and immoral activity.

The report was written in a cleverly bland way to protect the authors. However, the accusations, allegations and subjective statements were very detrimental and harmful as the report carried an official government document.

Government reports are supposed to be based on facts and it seemed unbelievable that it would so carelessly publish a report based on an orchestrated allegations.

Such false contents created a copycat frenzy among the media by spreading false claims and presenting them as factual with reference to the challenged publication by an authoritative source, namely the Belgian Chamber of Deputies.

The damage caused to the good name of the church was immeasurable and the UCKG decided, as described by some, to take an unthinkable action to start legal procedures against the State of Belgium!

The seven years battle was paid off when the The First Chamber Court of Brussels declared the UCKG’s victory on 28 June 2005. The presiding Judges together with law representatives declared about the said report that it “…was drawn up in a careless manner and that it is to be regarded as an error.”

The government was forced to publish the judgment on the political and society pages of two national newspapers, forced to incur daily penalties if delaying orders, pay UCKG's legal costs and also pay damages.

“This was the very reason why Jesus was so persecuted by the religious leaders. They were watching their temples turning into empty pews when at the same time, the multitude of people were following Jesus Christ! Obviously they created a campaign to demoralize Jesus as to so stop people ‘leaving the main religion’ into a true Christian faith. Similarly, we know that such accusations were religious instigated by some intending to hold the monopoly of faith. They can’t conceive the idea of the UCKG’s growth in Belgium and at any cost, they try to formulate a wrong opinion in an attempt to impede peoples’ freedom of choice and rights. But as we can see, it didn’t work as they planned.” Commented Bishop Wellington who oversees the UCKG in Australasia.

Bishop Renato Cardoso who is in charge of the UCKG in Great Britain said, “The extent of this victory is immeasurable. It's David beats Goliath all over again. The way that the church was smeared by the Belgium Parliament report is outrageous - and the report itself, how it was prepared and presented in such a careless and irresponsible manner is simply preposterous.
“Thankfully, the Church's name has now been cleared; the Court of Appeal ruled the report was wrong. But what hasn't yet been determined, and I think it never will, is why a person or persons would use the Belgian government and risk its good name in such an unfair and wrongful act, only to denigrate the image of a sound Christian organisation.
“Who is behind all this? Why are they so intent on hurting the UCKG with lies and false accusations? Whatever their agenda is, we will carry on fighting for the truth and doing God's work helping people all over the world.”
