Swiss˘tel Hotels & Resorts appoints Wayne Horbach as General Manager at Swiss˘tel Sydney

SINGAPORE, 31 July 2009 ľ Swiss˘tel Hotels & Resorts is pleased to announce the appointment of Wayne Horbach as General Manager for the 359-room Swiss˘tel Sydney.
Wayne brings to Swiss˘tel Sydney almost 30 years of hospitality experience, most of which has been gained in his chosen field of specialty, sales and marketing. Since he was first appointed Account Manager for Southern Pacific Hotels in 1992, Wayne progressed to assume several senior sales and marketing appointments, most notably Regional Director of Sales at Stamford Hotels & Resorts and Blue Rockĺs National Sales and Marketing Manager. He then held a double portfolio as Director of Sales for Corporate Rydges Hotels & Resorts and Director of Sales & Marketing at Rydges Jamison Sydney for two years before assuming the position of Executive Assistant Manager at Rydges Jamison Sydney, having successfully rebranded the property from Le Meridien, Sydney. Subsequently, Wayne joined the Merivale Group, a diversified hospitality and lifestyle conglomerate, as General Manager Accommodation and Functions.
Wayne also enjoyed a stint as an entrepreneur, owning and managing a boutique catering firm, Roquette Catering Pty Ltd, before selling the successful venture.
This executive appointment at Swiss˘tel Sydney marks a return for Wayne who was once Executive Assistant Manager, Director of Revenue & Marketing. Most recently, Wayne Horbach was General Manager ľ International Sales, at Warner Village Theme Parks and Sydney Attractions Group.
With his extensive hospitality as well as sales and marketing experience, coupled with an in-depth industry knowledge and expertise, Wayne is well placed to steer Swiss˘tel Sydney to further success. Swiss˘tel Sydney was recently selected for Expedia« Insidersĺ SelectÖ 2009, only one of eight Sydney properties to have joined the illustrious list of over 850 hotels worldwide, a figure that represents less than 1% of the 99,000 hotels and resorts that were reviewed. Swiss˘tel Sydney was also on the Conde Nast Travelerĺs Top 100 The Best in the World Readersĺ Choice Awards 2008.
