Snow fun: Enjoying the winter to the full
'Europa-Sportregion' tempts with attractive last-minu

Added: (Thu Feb 16 2006)

Winter always lasts a few weeks longer in the 'Europa-Sportregion'. When spring begins and the pistes slowly turn into green mountain idylls again elsewhere, Zell am See and Kaprun still show a thick layer of glistening powder snow. The cold season has a good grip on the picturesque countryside here right until the end of April. And even then the fans of winter sports can indulge in the cold white element. It is the glacier of Kitzsteinhorn with its 3,024 metres of height that makes this possible.

132 kilometres of pistes offer lots of change to skiing and snowboarding professionals as well as to beginners. On the plateau of the glacier at the dizzy height of 2,900 metres or from the top of Schmittenhöhe 900 metres further down – the downhill runs of the 'Europa-Sportregion' are pure pleasure. And from the valley, 57 lifts and cable cars take sportsmen and women up onto the mountains again.

'Relaxation', 'Active vacation', or 'Sports with a kick': three different holiday categories offer an individual holiday to each guest in the 'Europa-Sportregion'. Whether you are out for a relaxing stay in one of the many hotels and guest houses or for an exciting adventure trip – you will always find exactly the right leisure time programme here. Snowshoe walks or riding through the untouched countryside in horse-drawn carriages are just two of the romantic alternatives which are offered off the pistes. A little more speed is involved in skating at the indoor ice-rink in Zell or in dashing down the toboggan runs. And even when an eventful day is nearing its end, it is not really over yet. Visitors who like parties and also those who want to relax will both find a lot to do and see in Zell am See and Kaprun. They have the choice of awesome après-ski parties or relaxed evenings: you can enjoy the typically Austrian hospitality in all the bars, discos, restaurants or mountain inns of the region.

The 'Europa-Sportregion' has now tied an attractive package offer for last-minute bookers: the 7-day 'Schnee Okay Pauschale' enables guests to start off into the winter again in March and April at a very favourable price – from 318 euro/week. Apart from bed and breakfast, the ski pass and the entry fees for the ice-rink and the indoor swimming pools are included. Moreover, there is a 10-percent discount on the price of hire skis. This last-minute campaign even offers three days of snow fun from as little as 170 euros. Bookings can be made on the Internet at www.europasportregion.info.
