Having conducting a forum for European buyers and Indian sellers, the company is betting high on bringing together buyers from Europe and seller companies from Asia. The natural death of the outsourcing debate has certainly fuelled the prospects of many a software company worldwide. In an attempt to bring together buyers and seller of outsourcing services, SPG Media, an international business-business media company, is planning to organize a Euro Asian Outsourcing meet.
SPG India director Vijay Chintamaneni said, "Presently, we are concentrating on after sales aspect for the recently concluded EU Outsourcing meet in Dubai in June. But this only brought together European buyers and Indian sellers. We are thinking on the lines of having a similar forum covering European buyers and Asian sellers. This might fructify sometime early next year."
The EU Outsourcing Forum held in Dubai recently endorsed by NASSCOM and KPMG as knowledge partners, the event covered services in various fields such as IT services management, IT development, Application development, records management, credit card processing, sales (inbound & outbound), HR services etc.
"Of the more than $50 billion market size for global outsourcing nearly 17 percent to 20 percent comes from European countries. Given India's core strengths many EU companies found as an attractive ITES-BPO hub and the Dubai Forum facilitated formation of many strategic alliances between buyers and sellers," added Chintamaneni.
He further explained that holding such a forum would help both buyers and sellers reduce their procurement and sales cycles respectively by over 50%. "We conduct extensive research on the possible companies that can meet the expectations of the offshorer and let them meet each other face-to-face. This will also reduce time and money visiting each other," said Chintamaneni.
Started last year, the forum witnessed 15 prospective Indian sellers for 35 European buyers. For the next year's Forum, the company is expecting an increase not just in the number of buyers and sellers but the actual signing of deals between companies.
SPG Media India's operations basically include building and operating group business intelligence functions, product development, building local competencies, desk research in various sectors. Presently, the Indian office houses around 115 employees and the company intends to increase this to 180 by the end of 2005.
In terms of future outlook
We are reasonably optimistic, recognizing that the volatility of macro-market economics, the heightened awareness of terrorism and the overall role and influence of the emerging markets are serving to change the dynamics of the media industry's traditional role, value and contribution.
The media company that delivers carefully profiled and specifically targeted services will gain an ever-increasing share of its clients' marketing expenditure.
SPG Media India, the Indian subsidiary of the SPG Media Group Plc, of UK, a $42-million international business-to-business media company, is increasing its focus on India. The UK Company provides controlled circulation magazines, internet reference portals and engaged in the business of organizing business conferences and forums based in UK, with offices in London and India.
The company, which delivers 130 different products and services across 14 industries in 85 countries, has been in India since 2003 and hopes to record a turnover $3 million this fiscal. Since setting up operations the company's revenues earned from various channels touched $1.5 million in India and is expected to increase in the coming years according to company officials.
We publish a magazine called Pharmaceutical Focus Asia for our Asian prospects while another magazine called Asian Hospital will be published from June onwards," Vijay said.
The group employs 450 people globally, of which 115 are located in Hyderabad. By the end of this year Hyderabad will have 180 people.
Vijay said that they would also be expanding operations and open offices in Nottingham, UK and in Cape Town, South Africa besides having satellite offices in other Asian countries that would be controlled by the Indian subsidiary.
International Data Corporation (IDC), has predicted that the global ITES/BPO market would touch $680 billion by 2008 from last year's $405 billion.
IDC also said that the EU Outsourcing deals of 100 leading companies went up to $49 billion in 2003, a rise of 78 per cent over the previous year. It forecast that the EU Outsourcing market would grow more rapidly in the near future.
