SMYRNA IZMIR

Pressbox (Press Release) -
This is an invitation to Izmir. Izmir is actually the present day name for Smyrna, one of the leading cities of the Antiquity, where Homer was born. For the christians, it has an importance being one of the seven churches of Apocalypse mentioned in the Bible.
The present day modern Izmir has much to offer:
For the shoppers, both the old Basaar and the modern shopping centers offer excellent shopping opportunities.
Those interested in culture have enough here: The Symphony Orchester, The Ballett and Opera have their performances. International Izmir Festival in June-July is a peak in the cultural life in Izmir.
Historically, though less than in Istanbul, one can visit the oldest phase of Smyrna, as well as the second phase with Agora-the roman market place.
The Velvet Castle with a nice view of the city and the Gulf is also worth a visit.
We would advise a crossing by ferry between the two sides of the Gulf.
Also for swimmers: at the outer section of the Gulf, one will have the possibility to swim as one could do that in early 70-s.
Wellcome to Izmir/Smyrna
