Portsmouth hotel supports Earth Day

Pressbox (Press Release) - Local hotel supports Earth Day


Earth Day was established 38 years ago in the United States of

America, and is celebrated on 22nd April each year. It is a day

designed to think about the planet and what to do to keep it

special; it is about generally getting people interested in

protecting their environment.


In conjunction with this important day a team of associates,

including the General Manager Barend Jan Schreuder from the

Portsmouth Marriott Hotel cleaned up the hotel grounds, the

Roads surrounding the around the hotel and the grounds of the

local Leap Frog Nursery, which is located just around the corner

from the hotel.



General Manager Barend commented ‘By giving associates the

opportunity to give back to their local areas, we carry on our

company’s long history and deep commitment to community

involvement. We want to help make Portsmouth, and every

community where Marriott operates, a better place to live and

work, through out the day we found tires, bumpers, batteries

plus a few empty bottles’


Earth Day in 2008 went truly global, with 200 million participants

in 141 countries. This year, major Earth Day events took

place in Barcelona, Buenos Aires, Tokyo, Caracas and Moscow, as

well as in key American cities and the Portsmouth Marriott Hotel

we proud to take part.
