NEW WEBSITE TRACKS DOWN HOLIDAY FRIENDS
Added: (Thu Jul 04 2002)
Tracking down friends you made on holiday has often proved a difficult task but a new website – www.holidaysrevisited.com – aims to change all that.
The way the site works is simple. Users create an on-line profile of themselves, listing the various resorts they have visited and perhaps giving brief details of the people who they are anxious to meet again. Several profiles can be added, enabling them to be traced at numerous resorts over the years. From then on, anyone visiting the site can search for old friends either via a resort or a person’s name. Messages can then be sent, via a secure link, before any personal details are released.
Other features of the site include an open message board, allowing users to share memories or provide advice and tips to people thinking of visiting a particular resort in the future. ‘HolidaysRevisited’ will even incorporate a photo gallery, enabling visitors to browse through pictures taken on the holiday and then make contact with anyone they recognise.
“We’re not just trying to re-kindle holiday romances” said Mark Farrimond, one of the team behind ‘HolidaysRevisited’ “though that could be a popular part of the site. The relaxed environment of a holiday means that people of all ages make new friends and then for one reason or another addresses and phone numbers get lost. We have created an easy-to-use medium which will allow old and new friends to track each other down.”
Use of the site’s log-on and search facilities is completely free of charge. Visitors wishing to contact someone they have tracked down will just pay a small fee to become ‘HolidaysRevisited’ members. Full details of the site can be found by logging on to www.holidaysrevisited.com
