Prime Minister, Yayyip Erdogan�s call for an early general election is further evidence of Turkey�s maturing democracy.

The voice of Turkeys people was on shown over the past two weekends when 1.3 million Turks turned out to make a quiet responsible statement confirming the countries commitment to secular government.
Erdogan�s response underlines his growing political maturity. Seizing the moment he petitions to bring this years general election forward and introduces the motion that the authority to appoint the Turkish Presidency be taken from Parliament and given to the people in open elections.
The composition of The House of Lords has long been a contentious issue with British political commentators; perhaps Erdogan�s Turkey is giving us a message here to our second chamber?
In any event, Erdogan�s AK Party enjoys a huge popular majority with the people will mean he will the election whenever it is called. With a second term of office Erdogan will be well positioned to delivering still more political stability, economic growth and social reform. His continued success will raise both his and Turkeys growing international reputation
