Pressbox (Press Release) -
The online job portal Gigajob.com was founded in summer 2005. At the time, only two persons were involved in the development and support of the site, and neither of them expected the portal to play a bigger role in the league of German-language online job portals. Today, five years down the line, Alexa, an independent online research service that assesses the popularity of Web sites based on the number of page views, ranks Gigajob third in the hierarchy of German-speaking online job portals.
Gigajob has become hugely successful. Yet, it continues to be supervised by less than 20 employees across the board, from the techies to the customer service staff; a very small team indeed, as compared to its competitors who employ hundreds.
The founders of Gigajob aimed to simplify the time-intensive and often unsuccessful task of job hunt through browsing daily newspapers and conventional job portals. The philosophy crystallised magnificently, and the figures substantiate that: over 1.7 million members take part actively in both the job advertisments and the job search. Currently, 169,736 job ads and 93,676 resumes are listed on the site. The job portal is equally interesting for both employees and employers because Gigajob does not differentiate between temporary jobs and management positions. And all can be used for free.
Grinning from ear to ear, the company spokesman Barbara Hofmann declares with great delight: “For the german job market, our strategy worked very well. I think there is a chance to do so worldwide. It would be fantastic if we get to third place worldwide one day!’ To find out more please visit http://www.gigajob.com
