Burma Democratic Concern today calls for United Nations Security Council to take all necessary actio

Added: (Fri May 09 2008)

Burma Democratic Concern today calls for United Nations Security Council to take all necessary actions to save millions of lives in Burma.

Burmese people are now facing one of the worst natural disasters and are in desperate need of help. They are at risk of their lives without clean water, food and shelter.

This is the humanitarian crisis and if junta really care for the people; they have to accept the aid in very quickly and fully co-operate with the international governments.

“This is the time to take action by United Nations Security Council to save the millions of lives. Are we going to count on junta first or millions of Burmese people first”, said Myo Thein, director of Burma Democratic Concern in United Kingdom.

“The military government is using the same delaying tactics as they always did in the past but this time they are risking lives” added Myo Thein.

Delaying further to aid in means millions of lives will be risk of dying from starvation, disasters, lack of water, shelter and health care.

Obviously, this is the time to ask question that “Are we going to listen to the illegitimate government which is risking millions of lives or listen to the Burmese people voices and the voice of legitimate leader, Aung San Suu Kyi, who won 1990 election overwhelmingly. This is now the matter of Lives.” said Khin Maung Win, director of Burma Democratic Concern in United States.

“They simply ignore the will of people by not honouring 1990 elections result and now again they are ignoring the lives of million of people. This time, we need to save the lives before too late. This is the humanitarian crisis” said Kyaw Lin Oo, director of Burma Democratic Concern in Thailand.

United Nations must have the clear vision, plan and they must do everything they can to save the lives of Burmese people.
