There have been many such incidents involving Somali pirates. According to reports, the Somali pirates took the couple away due to fear of attacks by he British navy.

The couple is being held in the Singaporean ship somewhere near Haradheere. This Singaporean ship was seized by the pirates a few weeks ago and since then 21 crew members of the ship have been held hostage by the pirates.

The empty yacht was seen by a Spanish helicopter sent to trace the British Couple. As per reports, no ransom has been demanded by the pirates yet. The main purpose of holding the couple hostage is said to be money. But no official demand has been made by them yet.

NATO naval forces have also reportedly joined the hunt operation. Meanwhile, there have been reports about the hijacking of a Thai Ship having 23 crew members. The Somali pirates are increasingly threatening the vessels moving through the Somali coastline. Most of the gang members are said to be former fishermen.

The threat to the sea routes posed by the Somali pirates has forced various countries to deploy their naval ships to patrol the area. Naval ships from around 16 countries are currently patrolling the area but the incidents of hijacking by the pirates have continued.
