“Autism: Recovery is an Option” presentation debunks myth about Autism
(England, August 23, 2007) In the UK, Autism now occurs in at least 1 in 100 children (National Autistic Society) and is considered to be an irreversible and incurable condition. This fall, Raun K. Kaufman, Managing Director of the Autism Treatment Center of America will debunk this myth via a series of informative presentations entitled, “Autism: Recovery is an Option” September 22-October 4, 2007. These groundbreaking presentations give parents of children with Autism hope and viable options for their children’s future.
“The Son-Rise Program at the Autism Treatment Center of America stands out as the lone example of effective, complete emergence from infantile Autism,” said Brian Hooker, Ph.D., P.E. “On further examination of patient data through parental surveys, interviews and video outcomes, I found that in specific cases, the Autism Treatment Center of America (ATCA), indeed was successful in effecting full emergence, albeit without the guise of a ‘miracle cure’.”
Autism is the third most prevalent developmental disorder in the world and has increased alarmingly over the last decade. The specific strategies Mr. Kaufman addresses in his lecture have been shown to have an immediate impact on children with Autism, Asperger’s Syndrome and other developmental challenges. Parents and professionals will learn strategies to profoundly improve their autistic child’s social skills in speech and language, eye contact and other key areas, bridging the gap with their often non-communicative children. These principles use a child’s repetitive behavior to develop meaningful social relationships, traditionally considered impossible for those diagnosed with Autism.
Unlike traditional behavior modification treatments, the strategies of The Son Rise Program ®, as introduced in Mr. Kaufman’s presentation series, show parents that celebrating their child’s Autism and not setting limits on their potential is the first step to recovery. Mr. Kaufman will recount his own personal story of full and complete recovery from Autism and discuss the treatment methods of The Son-Rise Program, how they were developed and why they work.
“My son Eddie was diagnosed with Autism when he was 2 years old and his eye contact and speech completely disappeared, he started head banging and attacking his siblings. Two years after beginning our Son-Rise Program he is a changed child, interacting and playing with his siblings and really trying to communicate with us,” says Karenza Cassidy, mother of an 8 year old child with Autism in Swansea, U.K. “The Son-Rise Program has been a powerful vehicle in enticing Eddie out of his little world to come and join ours.”
“Our autistic son Paul was mute and had no eye contact. After 2 weeks of using the techniques of The Son-Rise Program, he seemed different and one day, while alone with him in silence, he spoke! Two years later our son is speaking and reading things so beautifully! We have had our miracle!” said Allen Lewis, a UK father, of his now 6 year old son, Paul.
The “Autism: Recovery is an Option” presentations are free and open to the public.
