iPLATO announced today the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding with the Saudi Arabian based Almisehal Group. The signing of this agreement represents the first step in the creation of iPLATO Middle East. Based in the Saudi capital of Riyadh the new company will serve the Middle Eastern market with mobile healthcare applications. In the near term, iPLATO Middle East plans to work with the leading hospitals in the region to launch iPLATO Patient Care Messaging. Over the next few years the company aims to become the regional leader in mobile healthcare.
“We are excited about the prospect of teaming with iPLATO to bring leading mobile healthcare services to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and neighbouring countries”, says Rob Wood, Managing Director of the Almisehal Group. “With rapidly growing mobile phone penetration, a young population hungry for innovation and a healthcare system under reform to successively provide mandatory healthcare to all people in the Kingdom, we believe that the timing for opening iPLATO Middle East is ideal.“ Mohammed Khawaji, Implementation Manager of iPLATO Middle East adds that ”iPLATO’s leadership in mobile healthcare applications in the United Kingdom forms the base for this partnership. In addition to the technology platform we are looking forward to leveraging iPLATO’s clinical systems partnerships, healthcare expertise and existing brand in the Gulf States which, in addition to the Saudi Arabia, includes the UAE, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Yemen and Bahrain.”
“The Almisehal Group is a perfect partner for iPLATO in the Middle East” says Tobias Alpsten, iPLATO’s Managing Director. “Through its fully owned subsidiary – Noviacom - the group is the regional market leader in telecommunication services and associated technologies. Noviacom has an enviable track record and already represents large telecommunications brands such as Ericsson and Alcatel. The company has close ties to mobile network operators in the region, vital for success in mobile applications, and a very strong network of relationships. At a recent visit to the Kingdom, we were blown away by the talent and skills residing within Almisehal. We are looking forward to working closely together to make iPLATO Middle East a market leader in the rapidly emerging field of mobile healthcare.” Alpsten adds that “the Commercial Section at the British Embassy has been instrumental in bringing us and Almisehal together. I would especially like to thank Syed Zaman for helping us getting iPLATO Middle East off the ground”.
