Turnover by William French Outlines a Path to Physical Fitness
Like so many college freshmen, William French was a lazy, overweight kid when he first went to college. Four years later when he graduated, William was a well-conditioned, physically fit man. Turnover is the story of the unique journey he took after deciding to make a lifestyle change, a journey that William encourages all inert college students to read about.
The publication of Turnover happily coincides with the 10 year anniversary of the U of A Wildcats’ NCAA championship in basketball. William worked as a student manager for the Wildcats basketball team while studying at the University of Arizona. In that position, William interacted closely with some amazing athletes and coaches. The Wildcats won the NCAA Championship in William’s first year as a student manager, and they returned to the Final Four again while he was with the team. William gives the reader a taste of the inspiring words of the players and coaches who meant the most to him, so he allows them to explain in their own words the importance of staying physically fit. We hear from such former Wildcats stars as Mike Bibby, Michael Dickerson, Eugene Edgerson, and Luke Walton, and coaches like hall-of-famer Lute Olson and Jim Rosborough. Lute Olson said, “Watching William French transform his physique from an out-of-shape young boy into a well-conditioned man was something I will never forget.”
William describes in detail his diet and exercise regimen, so that readers interested in making their own lifestyle changes can follow in his footsteps. He outlines daily menus and weekly exercise schedules. He explains how to do some 40 different weight-training exercises, and includes photos for further clarification.
After graduating from the University of Arizona, Will worked as an assistant for Jerry Colangelo, chairman and CEO of the Phoenix Suns. Speaking of the author, Mr. Colangelo has said, “what an amazing accomplishment that William French was able to physically turn his life around, and the fact that he has been able to maintain that level of fitness is a compliment to him.” Will currently works with the Grubb & Ellis Real Estate group.
Having made his own lifestyle change, Will wants to spread the message that change is always possible—it just requires a decision, dedication, and maybe a little support from friends, too. Physical fitness is within anyone’s grasp. Andrew Weil, MD, says, “William French has a story to tell about his conversion to healthy habits of eating and exercise. I hope it will inspire other young people to follow his example.”
A portion of the proceeds from the sale of Turnover benefits the University of Arizona Foundation and the Program in Integrative Medicine.
