Youki The Wound Heale Can Aid In Treatment of Diabetic Foot Ulcers

‘URGENT ACTION REQUIRED TO PREVENT THOUSANDS OF NEEDLESS AMPUTATIONS OF DIABETIC PATIENTS’ JOHN BOWIS CONSERVATIVE MEP

A lower limb is lost once every 30 seconds somewhere in the world as a result of diabetes. This problem is not only confined to developing countries; there are as many as 1.4 million people in the UK diagnosed as diabetic. Of these 210,000 (15 percent) will develop a foot ulcer and of these 31,000 (15 percent) will result in amputation in any one year. With an ageing population these figures are expected to double by 2010.

Diabetic ulcers are a major drain on NHS accounting for between 12-15 percent of total healthcare resources. Diabetic foot ulcers and resulting amputations cost up to £502m per year. The cost of a single amputation alone amounts to:
o Toe £ 3,443
o Foot £ 7,786
o Leg £10,979

The current approach to wound management is the application of various dressings and ointments, which create an environment for moist wound healing. Now there is a new approach to wound management in the market place in the form of a spray-on dressing that accelerates the body’s natural healing process. Since it’s launch thousands of patients have successfully used Youki to help heal their ulcers.

Youki is a spray-on dressing based on natural proteins and amino acids. It forms a breathable film over the wound providing an ideal environment for wound healing without causing the trauma often associated with traditional dressings.

Youki The Wound Healer is specially formulated to assist the skin’s natural repair mechanism by providing optimum conditions for healing. Wound healing progresses rapidly through the natural stages of the healing process, protecting the wound and enabling the skin to heal from the base of the wound upwards. The skin is encouraged to heal itself on fast forward safely, effectively and with minimum scarring.

Conservative MEP and health spokesman in the European Parliament, John Bowis said ‘there is an urgent need for action to bring about improvements in diabetic care for the millions of people with diabetes living in the world, and particularly in Europe today.’

It appears that wound care based on bandages and dressing needs a radical revision, and
THE FUTURE LIES WITH YOUKI THE WOUND HEALER.
